Manifesto

Every fast-growing company reaches the point where the offering outruns the design. Most try to fix it with patches. A new logo, a new site, a new feature. Each one adds work and confusion.

We work at the foundation level instead, building the brand and product structures a company stands on as it scales.

Average design has never been more accessible. Design that scales has never been more valuable. Since 2019, that is all we’ve pursued.

  • For foundersThe offering outran the design.Revenue is growing, the website still describes the company from two years ago, and every new market gets a slightly different version. You know it, your team knows it, and your last investor mentioned it. This is the moment we exist for.
  • For foundersYou want to look like the leader before the numbers say so.Somewhere between the seed and the Series A there is a window where the choice to look like the category winner is still cheap. You are in it, and you would rather not wait for the round to prove it.
  • For foundersNobody outside the building can explain what you do.Deep tech, biotech, infrastructure. You understand it completely and the market does not yet. You need a shape people can hold, so a buyer, an investor and a new hire can all say it in one sentence.
  • For foundersThe category has no name yet, or the wrong one.Nobody owns the space, or the incumbent has gone quiet. The first company to describe it clearly usually gets to keep it. You want to be that company.
  • For foundersThe company changed. The brand has to catch up in one move. You pivoted, merged, or outgrew the original idea, and there is something to lose. Repositioning is harder than positioning. You want it done without dropping what has been earned.
  • For the VCYou run a fund and want a brand partner with skin in the game. You sell one story to founders and another to LPs, and the brand has to hold both. We position funds, and we co-invest alongside several of them.
  • For the carve-outThe company inside the company needs a name of its own.A division, a product line, or a venture that has outgrown the parent. It leaves with a customer base, a team, and a brand that still says someone else’s name. You need an identity that stands alone from day one, without losing what the parent’s reputation was worth.Joyweek →
  • For the brand mergerFive companies, five brands, one platform to explain. You bought them for the products and the customers. Now the sales team is carrying five decks, the market cannot tell whether it is one company or a holding, and every acquisition makes it worse. You need architecture before you need a new logo: what stays, what folds in, what the platform is called, and how the next acquisition slots in without starting over.

What frustrations founders and operators tell us on the first call

Our designer just left. The brand left with them.
We create clear foundations that keep things coherent as you grow, and give your team something they can keep building on.
Our website promises one thing. The product delivers something else.
We don’t treat brand as one thing and product as another. We design them together, so what you promise and what people actually experience feel like the same company.
The brand book is beautiful. Nobody opened it twice.
Guidelines that live in a PDF don’t get used, they get forgotten. We build brands, tools and guidelines around how your team actually works, so the work lives on long after we hand it over.
Don’t have time for six weeks of silence, and a big reveal.
We keep the process tight and the people involved close. Fewer handovers, faster decisions, and more attention on the work that actually matters. No big reveals. You are in the loop the whole way.
The team that pitched isn’t the team that showed up later.
The people you meet are the people making the work. We keep our teams small and senior, bringing in the right expertise when it’s needed, not layers of management.
The studio we work with understands the brief, but not the business.
We’ve built and backed companies ourselves, not just designed for them. That means we understand the tradeoffs behind a decision, not only the brief in front of us.
You can tell which studio made it from across the room.
Every brand we make is built from the DNA of the company. Sometimes we start from a blank canvas, sometimes we build upon existing brand variables.
